    The Challenge

    Many restaurant owners calculate food costs and profit margins manually using spreadsheets — time-consuming, error-prone, and leading to inconsistent pricing. The market lacked an accessible platform for quick cost calculations combined with educational resources.

    Technical Challenges

    • ✓SEO-first architecture — structured metadata, canonical URLs, sitemaps, structured data, and static generation for organic growth from day one.
    • ✓Dual-platform delivery — feature parity between web and Android while optimizing each experience for its platform.

    The Solution

    Built ProfitPlate as a Next.js application with strong emphasis on technical SEO. Multiple business calculators (food cost, recipe cost, profit margin), educational resources, and responsive design. The Android app extends calculator functionality to mobile users. Every page was engineered for search visibility with structured metadata, Open Graph, canonicals, and JSON-LD.

    Lessons Learned

    • →Technical SEO is a product feature — building metadata, canonicals, and sitemaps into the architecture from the start made organic growth infrastructure seamless.
    • →A single-purpose calculator can become a platform when built for extensibility — the calculator pattern was designed to be replicated.
    • →Android development for data-input-heavy apps requires careful UX consideration around forms and keyboard handling.
